The skin of the EYE CONTOUR is 5 times thinner than the rest of the face, ranging from 0.004 to 0.006 mm. It also has far fewer sebaceous glands and sweat glands than the rest of the body, so it tends to be a rather dry area, yet it is just as exposed to atmospheric aggressions as the skin on the rest of the body.

Because they are so delicate, it is vital that we treat the skin around the eyes with special care and specific products of the highest quality. Therefore, today we explain in the following lines how to apply the products for the EYE CONTOUR and how to treat this area of our face. Don't miss it, read on ;-)

Step #1: Deep cleaning

Before applying the eye contour, it is necessary to make an deep cleaning to the whole face with cold water. If you have a special gel for your face you can use it, and if not, just water is enough. And one more trick: if you're not in a hurry, don't dry your face completely with the towel, let the air do it in its own time :-)

Then apply your usual cleansing cream and cleansing toner to your face. Both products should not touch the area around your eyes or eyelids. Why? Because their composition for this area of the face is more aggressive than your delicate skin can withstand and in the long term you could create bags of oil and pimples from clogged pores.

Step #2: Hydration and nutrition

Once your skin is clean and your pores are ready to receive their share of moisture, apply moisturising and nourishing cream to your face. As always: remember not to touch the area around the eyes and the surrounding area.

For this step you can also apply moisturising creams with some natural oil such as the argan oil: the properties of these natural oils help to smooth wrinkles and fine lines, and their richness in antioxidants is ideal for skin over 30.

Step #3: Eye Contour Gel Application

It is applied differently depending on the problem you are fighting. If you have bags under the eyes, it should be applied with very gentle touches from the outside inwards following the natural curve of the cheekbone. Do not touch the eyelid or eyelid skin.

Remember that eye products should be applied with a cotton swab or your ring finger (which is the least forceful due to its low usage). Going from the outside to the inside in the movement allows the liquids to be transported to the lymph nodes near the tear duct. Remember to do these dabs very gently.

If you suffer from dark circles under the eyes and puffiness, the remedy consists of stimulating the microcirculation of the blood with the delicate pressure of your fingers and then dragging them over the skin from the inside out, horizontally and following the lines of a mask.

Also, keep in mind something that is essential for good eye care: never apply eye contour to the eyelids. In the long term, manual contact in this area will cause the skin to sag, which will age your eyes. If your skin is very dry in this area, apply cream once a month to the skin bordering the upper eyelid to avoid getting cream in your eyes and irritating them.

To apply the cream to the upper edge of the eyelids, use your ring finger from the inside out. And at the end, lift the tail of the eyebrow with a small gesture, it is a delicate extension that dilutes expression lines.

Tips on cosmetics for the eye contour area

Some general recommendations to keep in mind when using eye care cosmetics are:

  • If you are over thirty or if your skin type is already showing signs of ageing around the eyes (crow's feet, bags...), you can buy a eye contour gel that contains hyaluronic acid or retinol and make sure it does not contain parabens. These components provide a lot of hydration and fight puffiness and wrinkles.
  • To keep this cosmetic product in good condition, remember to close it tightly so that it does not lose its properties. The dispenser format is very practical and guarantees optimum preservation of the gel, keeping its properties intact.

  • It is also a good idea to combine products according to your skin's needs. If your skin is very dry, you can use a moisturising and protective eye contour cream in the morning. At night, you could use a draining, nourishing and/or firming eye contour cream to solve inflammation problems.

We hope you find these tips very useful. And as always, we're listening. How can we help you?
