What characterises the combination skinDo you also have this type of skin? If so, your face probably has the following particularities:

  • The forehead, nose and sometimes the chin (T-zone) is oilier and shinier than the rest of the face.
  • You frequently get blackheads and pimples in the T-zone.
  • The skin is rougher to the touch and the pores are more open in the T-zone.
  • Your cheeks look a little drier than your nose and forehead.

Is your face like this? Then you definitely have combination skin. It's what some experts also call normal skin because it is the most common skin type. But, if we are precise, the normal skin is one in which the presence of fats and moisture is balanced over its entire surface.

At SOIVRE we have a range of natural cosmetic products to keep your skin healthy. combination skin. And what's more, we know good practices to make it look spectacular. Follow this list of tips that we share with you today and you will see the results.

Basic care for combination skin

To maintain healthy skin there are three basic actions that make up the daily routine: cleansing, toning and moisturising. Combination skin is not exempt from this care.

When cleansing, it is advisable to use a pH-neutral soap. Better if it is specially recommended for combination skin, so avoid those 'all skin type' soaps or cleansing gels.

Cleansing should be done twice a day: before going to sleep (this way you remove all the dirt of the day from the face) and when you wake up (this way you say good morning with kindness and at the same time you prepare the skin for what is to come: make-up, sun, pollution...).

Toning should be done with a product that does not contain alcohol, but is water-based. When applying it, you can make circles with some vigour on the T-zone, while delicate touches on the rest of the face are sufficient.

When moisturising your skin, be more generous with the product on the cheeks and jawline. Leave moisturising in the T-zone until last and apply the product discreetly.

It is best to choose moisturising and nourishing creams according to your age. It is useful for everyone to prioritise natural cosmetics that include aloe vera, rosehip o grape seeds.

In relation to exfoliations, once a week is sufficient. After the exfoliation a nourishing mask rich in vitamin C is essential.

If you love make-up, please pay close attention to the products you buy. Matte and oil-free foundations are best for combination skin. You can also apply translucent powder on the cheek area. And always remember to keep your make-up tools clean. It's okay to wash them once a month or replace them - brushes are a breeding ground for germs and dirt!

Homemade solutions for combination skin

The use of natural cosmetics for the care of our combination skin can also be combined with some homemade recipes to moisturise and nourish combination skin. We suggest some of them. Are you ready?

Yoghurt and honey treatment (moisturising and nourishing)

Mix one tablespoon of natural yoghurt with one tablespoon of honey. Add about 12 drops of lemon juice. Stir all these ingredients together until you obtain a homogeneous cream. Apply it with your fingers all over your skin and avoid contact with your eyes. After 15 minutes, wash your face with lukewarm water.

Avocado treatment (deep nourishment)

Scoop out the avocado flesh and place it in a bowl. Mash well with a fork until smooth. Add a tablespoon of honey. Spread a thin layer of this mixture on your skin. After 15 minutes, remove with lukewarm water. Twice a week this avocado treatment will help your skin look smoother.

Natural yoghurt and oatmeal treatment (soothing)

Mix one tablespoon of natural yoghurt and one tablespoon of ground oatmeal. Leave this mixture on your face for 20 minutes. Wash it off with cold chamomile tea. You will receive a refreshing and soothing sensation. This treatment is perfect for combination and sensitive skin.

Fruit toning: apple and papaya

Put papaya pulp in a blender with 50 ml of water. Use this thick liquid to spread on your face and sit while it dries. Leave on for about 10 minutes and rinse with cold water. This same procedure can be done with apples. Again, twice a week, apply this toning with natural fruit juices.

Almond milk and clay (moisturising and cleansing)

Mix three tablespoons of almond milk with two tablespoons of clay. You will obtain a homogeneous paste. Spread it on your face and leave it on for about 15 minutes. At the end, wash your face with plenty of fresh water and say goodbye to excess oil in the T-zone.

Sweet dreams: tomato and lettuce juice

Apply this mixture before going to bed and your skin will have a restorative and nourishing rest. Mash a ripe tomato together with lettuce leaves. Add a little water and mix until a paste is formed. Put it on your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and go to sleep.

For best results, it is a good idea when applying these home remedies to also relax for a few minutes lying in bed or on the sofa, for example. It's not just about the treatment itself, it's about how you do it.
